One of the places worth mentioning on the Caribbean peninsular is the Mayan Riviera, a fringe of Caribbean coastline, with cities such as Playa del Carmen and Tulum and nearby islands such as Cozumel, 140 kilometres off the Mexican Caribbean coast. The main economic activity of this region is tourism, and the resort has grown up around the demand of European and North American visitors, the latter choosing the area or its proximity and convenience.
The Mayan Riviera is the ideal place to enjoy a holiday, staying in one of the zone´s hotels, or an apartment. This is a great place to do outdoor sports such as windsurfing, kitesurfing, diving, trekking, golf, or simply lie on the beach sunbathing.
Places such as Xcaret, Tulum, and Playa del Carmen stand out, as does the tropical island paradise of Cozumel off the coast of the Mayan Riviera.
The main tourist attractions here are the choice of sports available, the accomodation options, the expanses of beautiful beaches, and the cultural tourism which can be enjoyed.
The Mayan Riviera offers visitors many options, whether it be outdoor sports like golf or diving, the Xcaret Theme Park, kitesurfing in Playa del Carmen, visiting the Mayan ruins of Tulum, or enjoying the hammocks, sunloungers and palm trees of the golden beaches. |
