Cancún is a city in the north of the Mayan Riviera, with a population of more than half a million inhabitants, that has developed thanks to tourism. This is a first rate tourist destination which receives thousands of visitors each year, attracted by the beaches and pleasant temperatures, to enjoy the sun and a holiday of a lifetime. Cancun is in the north east of Mexico, on the Caribbean coast, in the state Quintana Roo. It has a population of more than 500,000 inhabitants and is one of the most important tourist destinations in the world.
One of the focal points of the Aztec culture, this is one of the jewels in the crown of tourism in Mexico, along with Acapulco on the Pacific coast. Here you can relax, enjoy miles of golden sands, and practise outdoor sports such as golf or trekking. Finding accomodation will be no problem, and you will be able to choose from no end of hotels, hostels, houses, chalets or apartments.
This is also an important destination for cruise ships. In Cancun you will be able to hire a boat or charter a yacht in order to enjoy the marine surroundings of the Yucatán peninsula, visit Isla Mujeres or Cozumel, or explore other islands of the Caribbean.
Cancun is one of the best connected cities of the Caribbean, thanks to its important, international airport. |
