The Caribbean is located on the East coast of Central America. So, if you are planning a holiday here, the first thing to do is to choose which island or country of the Caribbean you wish to visit. The whole area covers more than 200,000 squared kilometres. There are two options for travelling to the Caribbean- either by plane or by boat. All of the Caribbean islands can be reached by boat, and are inerconnected by boat. Some of them have ferry ports. The main islands and resorts have airports.
The principal airports in the Caribbean are in Cancun, Antigua and Barbuda, the Bahamas, Barbados, Cuba (no US flights), Saint Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, Isla Margarita, the Dominican Republic, Punta Cana, Barranquilla in Colombia, and Belmopán in Belize.
The following places have ports for ferries and cruise ships; Cozumel island, Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, Playa del Carmen on the Mayan Riviera in Mexico. All these places also have marinas where you can moor a hire boat. |
